Dental Hygienist

I have been a practicing dental hygienist in Tucson, Arizona since 1995. After attending Arizona State University, I received my Associates of Applied Sciences degree in Dental Hygiene from Pima Community College. The field of dental hygiene is rapidly evolving. To keep current and continue advancing my clinical skills, I attend numerous continuing education courses in all fields of dentistry as well as read professional publications. I am also a member of the Arizona Dental Association. Most recently, I have become State Certified in Soft Tissue Laser Therapy. Since 1996, I had worked in the same dental practice. For the past 20 years I have worked in the same dental practice. As of January 2017, I transitioned to Dr. Bell’s practice. Here, I have been afforded the opportunity to treat our patients with the tools and technology of dental hygiene above the standard of care. I am pleased to continue working with all my long-term patients and look forward to establishing new ones. I enjoy treating and maintaining my patient’s periodontal health and smiles at this practice. I am married and have two amazing children. My wife is a practicing dental hygienist as well. Outside of work, I enjoy family, exercise, sports (especially U o A), and numerous outdoor activities.

Dental Hygienist

I grew up in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and joined the United States Air Force with high aspirations of becoming a dental hygienist. My experience with the USAF was truly a rewarding experience of service and of discipline as a radar technician. But I still dreamed of becoming a dental hygienist. After an honorable discharge, I used my GI Bill towards my degree at Northern Arizona University graduating in 1991 with my bachelors in dental hygiene. I have been passionate about patient care ever since. I am happy to add that I am Laser certified. I have been an enthusiastic member of our national state and local societies since I graduated and I have volunteered many years of service as both a delegate and trustee to these societies.     My free time is enjoyed with family, friends, movies, sewing, crocheting, and spending time outdoors. I am passionate about a holistic approach to life and using Essential Oils. I am thrilled to be part of a practice that is changing the way dentistry is done. We are using the newest and most advanced technology and equipment to provide the highest degree of comfort and the best comprehensive treatment available today.

UPDATE: Retired as of 5/2020

Dear Patients and Friends,

It is with sadness that I announce my retirement from the dental hygiene practice at Drs. Spaeth, Bell, and Hornsby’s office. I feel that with the advent and uncertainty of Covid 19, it would be prudent for my health to retire at this time.

It is difficult to leave all my dear patients and friends. I will miss you. Having been a part of this practice for 20 years, it feels like leaving my family. You will be remembered. This office has always been a very special place, and will continue to be one.

I plan on pursuing some creative ventures I’ve wanted to do, but never had the time. Gardening and learning to silversmith are high on my list, as well as traveling (when we can) to San Francisco to visit my son and daughter-in-law and my granddog and grandcats.

Please keep on Waterpiking. I left some TePe brushes and information on ordering them. I have enjoyed being your hygienist and working with you. Be safe and stay well.

Warm Regards,
